Our Women’s team will ramp up their pre-season preparations with a friendly against Leigh Leopards.
A competition restructure means our girls will be competing in the Women’s Championship next season, but with the ultimate aim of achieving promotion back to the now eight-team top flight.
Under new Head Coach, Mike Grady, a refreshed squad has been hard at work preparing for the upcoming campaign, but will have their first test of 2024 against a familiar foe.
On Sunday 25th February, our girls will face the Leopards on the Salford Stadium Community Field, with kick-off scheduled for 12pm.
This comes directly before Paul Rowley’s men’s side take on Castleford Tigers in Round 2 of the Betfred Super League, at 3pm.
Allowing supporters to come down early, get behind the girls and see some new faces in action; before heading into the stadium for the men’s fixture.
Upon confirmation, Mike Grady has said: “I’m looking forward to our first hit-out and friendly against Leigh.
“There is only so many training and opposed sessions you can do before needing to see the players in a game situation; to see how far we have come, and what we still need to do.
“Leigh will provide us with a strong test and – as they’re in the same league as us – it will be a good marker for our group.
“It is my first as Head Coach of the women’s team; it’s exciting and I am looking forward to it, but at the same time there is a job to do.
“I feel we have a fantastic group of players who have trained really hard, so this friendly is the first stop on what is going to be an exciting journey for us all!”
