Salford Red Devils boss Paul Rowley has heaped praise on the ‘low maintenance’ Ken Sio, following his Man of the Match display in Sunday’s 38-12 Betfred Super League victory over Toulouse Olympique.

The Australian scored a stunning four tries in the victory, with each one displaying a different element of the quality that saw him run out the highest try-scorer in the Betfred Super League last season.

The Red Devils were at their free-flowing best at times, sweeping aside the French outfit with some powerful running and quick kicking – which mixed with the blustery conditions, caused havoc in the Toulouse defence.

Speaking to the press after the game, Paul Rowley was quick to praise our number 2 for his sensational display, admitting he’s lucky to have a player with the Sio’s quality at his disposal.

Rowley said: “He’s low maintenance, he’s one of them players every club wants in their side. He’s well respected from us all and we’re very lucky to have him – obviously, he’s a physical presence as well.

“I mean, four tries is a fantastic achievement and he’s started this season the way he’s finished the last – so Ken’s great – but he did drop a bomb, so we’ll have him about that one!”

Two wins from two in the Betfred Super League leaves Rowley’s side 3rd in the table, with the head coach now feeling they can kick on into the upcoming fixtures with massive confidence, despite a disrupted pre-season.

Rowley continued: “It’s good for everybody’s confidence. We’ve got a brand-new spine, new coaching staff, so to embed the belief at the start of a process is important.

“We’re just reinforcing what we believe in, and we think we’ve got a good group that’s been on a pre-season journey together and we’ve got a lot of belief in the camp.”

Up next for the Red Devils is a trip to face Brett Hodgson’s Hull FC on Saturday. The hosts narrowly beat Wakefield Trinity in Round 1 before losing convincingly to table-toppers St Helens in Round 2. Purchase your tickets HERE and join us at the MKM Stadium on Saturday.
