Watson: We need to match Leeds’ Appetite

Watson: We need to match Leeds’ Appetite

This week the Red Devils travel to surprise strugglers, Champions Leeds Rhinos, seeking an elusive win at Headingley
After last weekend’s narrow loss to Wigan the Devils had picked up a host of knocks and injuries and were looking thin on the ground. Thankfully, after a good week, problems seem to have eased and we spoke to Head Coach Ian Watson about the last few days.
“This week we have spent a lot of time on recovery as we looked in bad shape after that loss. We have done a lot of mental preparation and it looks to have paid off as we have more or less everybody ready. We have Captain’s Run tomorrow so we will check they all come through that before we decide who will be playing on Friday.
“Leeds are dangerous. Their league position is irrelevant they are always prepared. We have spent a lot of time looking at them and they are generally always in the game at half time. They also always seem to score first. Our job will be to match their intensity – their appetite, and match them going forward
And with the Devils still desperate to make the top eight Friday will be another big occasion. Consecutive losses will not help the cause one bit.
“It’s a big game for us. To be fair they all are now. They are all must win. All cup finals. But we have prepared really well this week considering what we have had to deal with.
“We ask our players to learn from every experience and this group has done that all season. Now we have to take all of that over to Headingley.”, Watson concluded.
Tickets for the Rhinos v Devils clash are on sale at the The Salford Stadium Box Office until 5pm on Friday, priced £20/£10
Prices on the turnstile at Leeds will be higher and the Devils get 10% of every pre-sale.
