Ian Watson – “A young half mentored by Andrew Johns”
Earlier today the Salford Red Devils confirmed the signing of Australian half-back Jack Littlejohn on a two-year deal.
Salford Red Devils Head Coach Ian Watson feels Littlejohn will strengthen his squad even further following the signings of Manu Vatuvei, Tyrone McCarthy, Gavin Bennion, Derrell Olpherts, Levy Nzoungou and Luke Burgess.
Salford Red Devils Head Coach, Ian Watson, said: โThe signing of Jack brings another leader into the group which can only make us stronger.โ
โJack has got fantastic leadership skills and the players who have played alongside Jack say heโs a good talker and a great organiser. Heโs a young half who was mentored by Andrew Johns at Manly.
โHeโs a quality addition on the back of the signing of Luke Burgess because their experience in the NRL alone will add to our youthful squad. Jack is coming here on the back of his best season in the NRL in which he featured in 15 games.
โWhen he was half-back alongside Mitchell Moses at Wests Tigers they won some big games including against the North Queensland Cowboys.
โJack will fit into our team first environment here at Salford because of his work ethic. Heโs a brilliant trainer, works extremely hard off the ball and does a lot for his teammates which is something we promote.
โThe addition of Jack gives us genuine competition for a position in the halves. Weโre bringing Jack in at the right age and now is the time for him to come and try to nail down a regular place. Heโs a hungry player who wants to make a career for himself by coming to the Super League and impressing.
โHopefully it should be easy for him to settle having played at Sydney Roosters with Lama Tasi and at Manly with Luke Burgess where Jack sat behind a quality half in Daly Cherry-Evans much like Rob Lui did at North Queensland and we know what a good signing heโs been for the Club.โ
