SIX SALFORD RED DEVILS RESERVES SELECTED FOR INTERNATIONAL DUTY

We are delighted to reveal six members of our Reserve team have been selected to represent their respective nations in the upcoming international break.

Despite a few disappointing results to start the season, Stuart Wilkinson’s side are slowly finding their feet in the Betfred Super League.

There are certainly encouraging signs and some up-and-coming quality has now been recognised at an international level.

The SIX Reserve team stars heading out to represent their countries are:

Charlie Glover – Wales U18’s

Matt Rudd – England Students

Mason Phillips & Jacob Lee – Wales Students

Nathan Connell & Jorge Cabral – Ireland Students

Ian Blease, Director of Rugby and Operations, has said: “This international recognition is further proof our player development pathway is starting to produce results.

“I am excited to see how these six – and the rest of the reserves – continue to develop under Stuart as the season progresses. A huge congratulations to the lads and I wish them the best of luck with their respective nations!”

Head Coach, Stuart Wilkinson has added: “I am so pleased that these players’ progress is being recognised – more so at international level.

“They, like many others we have developing in our reserves at the moment, are all late bloomers, with an obsession to improve, and this is payback for their dedication!”

The Reserves are back in action this Saturday, at home, against London Broncos. Kick-off is 2pm, so come down and support our young talent.

SALFORD TO HOST RESERVE TEAM TRIAL GAME ON NOVEMBER 13TH

Salford Red Devils will be hosting a trial game on the 13th November for aspiring Reserve Team players to join our squad for the 2023 season.ย
This is something the club began last season, with a view to providing an opportunity for talented players to put themselves forward for consideration for the Reserve Team squad. The 2022 campaign saw significant progress for the Salford Red Devils Reserve Team – both with our results and the individual player development.
Six of our Reserve Team squad – who were identified through the 2022 season trial – made their Super League debuts in our game against Warrington.
This is in addition to a number of other Reserve Team players who were invited to train with the first-team during the year. We are now looking for players who have the talent and desire to be part of this journey in 2023.
Stuart Wilkinson, Reserve Team Head Coach, said: โ€œ Salford Red Devils Reserve Team is a first rate facility. We look to encourage creative brilliance in young players, foster an environment where they can thrive and become self determined independent thinkers.
“The coaches then step out of the way and let their progress happen. The staff are immensely skilled, experienced and highly qualified talent development professionals who know the pain of wasting talent.
“Our Reserve Team approach is to encourage creativity to maximise the use of a young players drive and empowers them with a means to shine.โ€

We are currently only looking for players who have experience at one or more of the following levels:

  • International experience at one of these levels – Academy, Young Lions, Community Lions, other Home Nations or Student.
  • National Conference League – Premier or Division one
  • County Representative Level

If you meet one or more of the above criteria, please complete all of the information in the link below.
