GRAND FINAL TICKETS ON SALE FOR SALFORD SEASON TICKET HOLDERS

2022 Betfred Super League Grand Final category D tickets are now available to purchase via Salford Red Devils’ ticket website, for season ticket holders exclusively.

Super League have given all clubs the opportunity to make 100% revenue on Grand Final ticket sales from Monday 8th November, through to 5pm on Thursday 6th January.

Season ticket holders can purchase Category D tickets at a 50% discount at a price of just £20, with juniors in this area priced at £10.

All club tickets will be allocated in the North Stand for that ‘club day out’ feel, with finalist clubs in their respective ends (East and West).

These past two seasons have been unprecedented and challenging, so let’s all look forward to what promises to be a special occasion on Saturday 24th September at Old Trafford.

Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel revamped

Ellery Hanley MBE is to chair a panel of Rugby League greats in a radical revamp of the voting system to determine Super League’s most prestigious individual honour, the Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel.
Hanley is the only man to have won the award three times – in 1985, 1987 and 1989 – since it was introduced in 1977, and renamed in 2014 in honour of Steve Prescott, the former St Helens, Hull FC and Wakefield Trinity full-back who fought such an inspirational battle after being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
The panel will consist of 21 former players and coaches including former Men of Steel, and boasting a combined total of 46 Championship or Grand Final wins, 41 Challenge Cup winners’ medals – and sharing the common distinction of having made more than 200 career appearances.
Hanley attended today’s official launch of the 2019 Betfred Super League season at Old Trafford, which will stage the 22nd Grand Final on Saturday October 12 – with full details of the panel to be unveiled next month.
A member of the panel will watch each Betfred Super League game in 2019 and award points to the three outstanding players: 3 points for their chosen man of the match, 2 for the runner-up, and 1 for the third-ranked player.
The scores will be made public every week from the first round of the season – which begins with the St Helens v Wigan blockbuster next Thursday night (January 31) – until Round 22 in mid-July. After that, the poll will be hidden until the Awards Ceremony in October. Further details of that event will be released throughout the 2019 Betfred Super League season.
Robert Elstone, the Super League Chief Executive, said: “We’re delighted to able to announce a new, refreshed voting system for the Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel award.
“Rugby League was a pioneer in introducing the Man of Steel title more than 40 years ago, recognising the importance of celebrating the players who give so much to make the sport special.
“Who better, in that regard, to chair our new panel than Ellery Hanley MBE? A true great of the game, whose name still resonates well beyond it, and who is held in complete respect by the modern generation of players.
“Ellery will lead a panel with outstanding credentials. Its unrivalled and extensive knowledge and experience will underpin the award’s credibility and by sharing the votes after each round, we will create interest and talkability all the way through to awards night.
“We’d like to thank all of those involved in the new process and look forward to seeing the battle for the game’s ultimate individual award unfold over the course of the 2019 Betfred Super League season.”

Two Grand Finals on Salford’s doorstep this weekend

This weekend Salford will have not one but two Super League Grand Finals on its doorstep.
As always, the Super League Grand Final will take place at Old Trafford on Saturday, 6pm kick-off, between seven-time Grand Final winners Leeds Rhinos and Old Trafford debutants Castleford Tigers.
However, the inaugural Women’s Super League Grand Final will also take place in Manchester on Saturday. Featherstone Rovers and Bradford Bulls Ladies will fight it out to be named the first-ever Women’s Super League winners.
The game will take place at Manchester Regional Arena and will kick-off at 12pm. Entry to the first-ever Women’s Super League Grand Final is just £5 for Adults, £3 for concessions and any under 16s female players wearing their community club’s shirt will gain FREE entry.
You can make it a double-header of Grand Finals on the day – just a five mile or a 25-minute tram ride separate the Manchester Regional Arena and Old Trafford.

Grand Final set to stay at Old Trafford

Old Trafford is set to continue to host the Super League Grand Final up until 2020 after agreeing a new three-year deal with the RFL.
Manchester United’s stadium has held every Grand Final since its inception in 1998 with Grand Final record attendance being set two years ago as 73,512 people watched Leeds edge out Wigan.
The 2017 Super League Grand Final will be played on Saturday 7^th October and will be contested between Castleford or St Helens and Leeds or Hull FC.
Super League chief executive Nigel Wood said: “Grand Final night at Old Trafford under the lights is an iconic event that the sport should be proud of.
“We’re approaching the 20^th final at Old Trafford and each one has delivered great sporting drama and first-class entertainment.”
Only six teams have competed in a Super League Grand Final with Leeds, Wigan, Bradford, St Helens, Warrington and Hull FC all taking to the Old Trafford turf however league leaders Castleford could become the 7^th finalists this season.

Tickets still available for Wigan

Tickets are still on sale for Friday night’s Super 8s clash with Wigan at the DW Stadium, kick-off 8pm.
Fans can purchase tickets from the Red Devils ticket office based at the The Salford Stadium with 25% of any tickets sales going to Salford if purchased directly from the club.
The Red Devils won on their last trip to Wigan back in May so don’t miss the chance to see Salford attempt to make it two on the bounce at the DW Stadium.
Ian Watson’s men will be looking for their first victory of the Super 8s as they continue to push for a place in the top four come the end of September.

Ian Watson – "It will make them better players going forward"

Red Devils boss Ian Watson feels that his young players have stepped up recently and are improving every week.
Salford have struggled with injuries as of late with Mark Flanagan and Lama Tasi out for the season while others have picked up knocks but Watson is pleased with the younger squad members who’ve stepped in.
Watson said: “There are some positives to take from our recent struggles and one of those is definitely the young lads getting some game time.
“Jake Bibby, Ryan Lannon, Daniel Murray have all been great when they’ve stepped in.
“Kriss Brining is back in for us now and he made an impact off the bench against Castleford which was good.
“This experience of playing the top teams at this level of a competition is very intense and it will make them better players going forward.
“Obviously, it’s tough for us at the moment but the young guys in the team are getting their chance and improving every week and next year the squad will be a lot stronger for it.
“Look at Wakefield, for example, they struggled in the Super 8s last season but have benefitted from it this season and are real top four contenders along with ourselves and a handful of other teams.
“All of these players get experience at this level puts us in a better position when we do get more of our senior players back.
“But, the big thing is this year and what we’ve still got left to play for.
“We’ve got a chance of reaching another semi-final with a top four finish and then there’s always the chance of Old Trafford and the Grand Final if we get in that top four.”

George Griffin – "It's just a couple of wins"

Red Devils forward George Griffin, speaking to the League Express, admits the side is struggling for confidence following Friday night’s defeat against Castleford at the The Salford Stadium.
Salford are yet to get off the mark in the Super 8s stage of the season but Griffin knows the Red Devils are still in the hunt for a place in October’s Grand Final at Old Trafford.
Griffin, sponsored by Super Josh, said: “Our form is getting us down. It’s a confidence thing.
“We need to go back to what was working for us at the start of the season. We need to do what we do best and throw the ball around.
“Our yardage defence isn’t good enough. They’re getting out of their end too easy and we need to fix it up.
Despite being enduring their worst run of the season so far Griffin knows the Red Devils have the quality and character to finish inside the top four come the end of September.
“A lot of people are saying we’ve done well just to make the eight, but we’re better than that.
“It would be upsetting if we didn’t make the four, given our season so far and where we finished at the end of the regular season.
“But, we’re only a couple of points off the top four – that’s just a couple of wins. If we can get that in the next game it’s back in the air.
“We’ve lost some big players that go well for us, but the young lads need to step up in their place and we need to take the game to the opposition.”
