Fact file: Salford Red Devils vs Castleford Tigers

The Red Devils Super 8s home opener against league leaders Castleford Tigers will see the two most free-scoring teams in the Super League this season go head-to-head.
Daryl Powellโ€™s side currently top the try-scoring charts with a huge 134 tries while Salford have crossed for 104 tries โ€“ level 2nd with Wigan Warriors.
Castleford wingers Greg Eden and Greg Minikin have scored 50 of the sides 134 tries in the league this season with half-back Luke Gale also being in double figures.
The Red Devils tries have been distributed a little more evenly with second-rower Ben Murdoch-Masila, who grabbed two the last time Salford hosted Castleford, the clubโ€™s top try-scorer this season with 13.
Full-back Niall Evalds took his tally up to 12 for the season with his spectacular effort at Hull FC last Friday while Greg Johnson, Junior Saโ€™u and Kris Welham are all one try away from hitting double figures for the season.
Welham, who has also enjoyed spells with Hull KR and Bradford, is still in search of his 100th career try. The 30-year-old centre notched a try on the Red Devils visit to the Mend-A-Hose Jungle this season and will be looking to cross again to climb into treble figures.
While Gale is central to everything Castleford produce going forward he trails teammate Michael Shenton in terms of try assists. The England half-back has racked up 18 try assists however Shenton has set-up 19 tries in the Super League this season.
However, both men are surpassed by Salford half-back Robert Lui who has notched up an impressive 21 Super League try assists and trails only George Williams, who has 25, overall.
The Red Devils have won three of the last five meetings between the sides in all competitions however Castleford do have the edge in Super League winning 25 of the 36 meetings since 1996.

Ian Watson confirms squad to face Castleford Tigers

Ian Watson has confirmed his 19-man squad for the Red Devils first home game of the Super 8s against Castleford Tigers on Friday night, 8pm kick-off.
Kris Brining returns after a spell on the sidelines while Ryan Lannon is also reintroduced to the 19-man squad.
However, Michael Dobson is still recovering from a knock he picked up in the semi-final defeat against Wigan while Kris Welham and Josh Wood are also left out of this weekendโ€™s squad.
Forwards Lama Tasi and Mark Flanagan were both ruled out for the rest of the season last week while Lee Mossop continues to recover from injury.
Tyrone McCarthy and Manu Vatuvei are both set to take to field at the The Salford Stadium for the first time on Friday night.

Red Devils fans can still purchase tickets for Fridayโ€™s game over the phone, at the clubโ€™s ticket office or online via the club website. Supporters are also reminded that season tickets are valid for all Super 8s home games.

Three Red Devils heading for career milestones

A trio of Salford Red Devils could be celebrating milestones this weekend as they prepare to do battle with Hull FC in their opening Super 8s fixture.
Kris Welham, Olsi Kransiqi and Logan Tomkins will all hit career milestones should they appear in Friday nightโ€™s game at the KCOM Stadium.
Welham, who joined the Red Devils from Championship side Bradford Bulls, is set to make his 250th career appearance this weekend.
The centre has appeared for the Red Devils 25 times following his arrival at the beginning of the season. Welham racked up a sensational 191 games for Hull KR before moving to the Bulls and the 30-year-old has also represented Gateshead and the England Knights.
In addition to closing in on 250 career appearances Welham is also one try away from 100 in the Super League. Welham has crossed nine times this season for the Red Devils building on his impressive 90 tries between 2007 and 2015 for Hull KR.
Hooker Logan Tomkins could make his 150th career appearance this weekend. Tomkins has appeared for the Red Devils on 86 occasions while featuring for Wigan 47 times. He has also made dual-registration appearances for Workington and Widnes.
Olsi Krasniqi also needs one appearance to hit 150 career games. Since signing for the Red Devils in 2015 Krasniqi has played 51 games adding to his 92 games for London between 2010 and 2014. The Albanian-born forward has also featured for North Wales and London Skolars.
