Salford retain Jansin Turgut

Salford Red Devils are pleased to confirm the re-signing of Jansin Turgut following a successful short-term stint with the Club at the end of the 2018 season.
Turgut spent time with Hull FC between 2015 and 2018 as well as enjoying loan spells with Featherstone Rovers and Doncaster RLFC before joining the Red Devils.
Salford Red Devils Head Coach, Ian Watson, said: “Jansin is a young middle with Betfred Super League experience who when coming in at The Qualifiers stage last year showed glimpses of his versatility, ability & aggression.
“Jansin is also a former England Academy captain who possesses great potential and hopefully he can fulfil that potential here at Salford Red Devils. Jansin brings an extra level of competition to our squad & is determined to position himself as a starting player.”
Salford Red Devils Director of Rugby and Operations, Ian Blease, said: “We’re really pleased to get Jansin over the line for at least another season.
“Jansin came in for the closing stages of the 2018 season and really bolstered our squad and made a great impression when he featured against London and Leeds. He showed a desire, attitude and hunger to perform for the Club which made us want to keep him on for the 2019 season.
“He adds some competition for places in our forwards and we’re hoping he is the first of a few more signings in the middles.”
Turgut will link up with the Red Devils on the first day of pre-season tomorrow.

Jansin Turgut | “There’s bags of talent in the team”

Following his arrival late last week the Red Devils newest recruit – Jansin Turgut – has settled in almost immediately and is looking to hit the ground running at the The Salford Stadium.
Turgut, who is available for sponsorship, said: “I think we’ve all clicked as a group straight away and you know, they’ve been very welcoming, and I get on well with Watto [Ian Watson] the Head Coach.”
“Obviously it’s a very professional setup, the same as Hull FC, so it’s quite easy to adapt in that way. I’m trying my hardest to fit in with the lads and train hard as well which is hopefully that’s helping me to adapt.
The versatile back has previously captained Hull FC’s academy side and ended a three-year stint with the Black and Whites to join Salford but he is keen to impress following the move.
Turgut said: “I’m just trying to put my best foot forward. I’m contracted until the end of the year and I’m going to try to bring as good a performance as I can.
“I want to do the small things, the small details that maybe the fans can’t see but the lads will see and benefit from.
“Doing the hard work and doing the one percenters as well, hopefully I can do enough to get the wins and get Salford where they need to be.
“The ultimate aim is to try and earn myself a contract for next year.”
Looking ahead to the The Qualifiers, Turgut is optimistic about Salford’s chances of retaining their Betfred Super League status.
Turgut said: “There’s bags of talent in the team, I can see that already straight away.
“Everybody’s hard working and training has been intense straight away and I think the biggest thing is the confidence going around at the minute, coming off a big win against Leeds.
“I think we’re definitely going to be finishing in the top half and be away from the Million Pound Game.
The Red Devils fixtures see them host Widnes Vikings, Toronto Wolfpack and Toulouse Olympique at the The Salford Stadium and this means the side avoid any long distance travelling which Turgut believes does benefit the side.
“Even though your performance might not be affected directly, obviously things like fatigue might impact you when you need to travel.
“Obviously that unsettlement of not knowing the places and having to travel away could impact the players mentally so it’s a bonus for us that they’re home games.”

Squad | Salford land Turgut

Salford Red Devils can confirm the capture of Jansin Turgut on a short-term deal until the end of the 2018 season.
Turgut came through the ranks at fellow Betfred Super League club Hull FC for whom he has appeared over 20 times since making his debut in 2015 against Leeds Rhinos.
He has since spent time on loan with Doncaster RLFC and Featherstone Rovers.
Head Coach Ian Watson said: “We were looking for an outside back and Jansin’s name came up and he’s played a little bit of centre as well as second-rower which adds some utility value to our squad.
“He’s backed himself to come down here and prove his Betfred Super League credentials as he’s on the lookout for a new club next year.
“He’s a former England Academy captain which indicates he has leadership qualities and one thing that has always impressed me about Jansin is his work ethic which is key in our environment.
“He always runs his blood to water, never lets his teammates down and it’s great we’ve been able to bring some young hungry lads into our squad. Hopefully we can integrate him into our systems and plays quickly and he can put in some top performances for Salford.”
Director of Rugby and Operations, Ian Blease, said: “We’re pleased to have been able to bring Jansin in.
“It’s important that we bolster our squad as much as we can going into The Qualifiers and Jansin will definitely do that.
“He’s got a decent amount of Betfred Super League experience from his time with Hull FC and adds another option in our pack for the final games of the 2018 season.
“I’d also like to thank James Clark at Hull FC for working with us closely on this move.”
Turgut will be available for selection for our Qualifiers fixtures beginning with Hull Kingston Rovers at KCOM Craven Park on Friday 10th August.
