SHANE WRIGHT SIGNS NEW THREE-YEAR SALFORD RED DEVILS CONTRACT

We are delighted to announce Shane Wright has penned a new three-year deal at Salford Red Devils, keeping him at the Club until 2026.

Wright joined the club from North Queensland Cowboys after making 41 NRL appearances and penned a two-year deal at the Salford Stadium.

Since then, the Aussie has made 24 appearances, scored six tries and become a vital part of Paul Rowley’s back row.

Unfortunately, Wright was caught on the wrong side of a tackle against St Helens and is likely to miss the remainder of 2023 with an ankle injury.

Before that, the 27-year-old was in flying form and picked-up the club’s April Player of the Month award, as voted by the supporters.

In reaction to extending his stay with the Red Devils, Wright said: “I am pumped to extend my time here at Salford.

“We have a good group at the moment and the club is heading in the right direction, which I am excited to continue being a part of!”

Head Coach, Paul Rowley has added: “It is great news to keep Shane within the group. He is a young player with lots of potential, and all the drive and determination to reach it.

“He is a fantastic lad and really popular amongst the group. We are all delighted we get the pleasure of working alongside Shane going forward.”

Director of Rugby and Operations, Ian Blease also said: “It is a massive coup for the club to retain Shane’s services for the next three years.

“He is the ultimate professional, conducts himself with utter class and will no doubt play a major role in any future success this team has.

“His excellent form in 2023 was cut so cruelly short, but I know when he returns, it will be a massive boost for his teammates and the coaching staff!”

Everyone at Salford Red Devils would like to congratulate Shane on his new deal!

He has made 64 appearances in Red and White, scoring 12 tries and contributing heavily in all areas of the field.

Keeping a player of Atkin’s calibre at the club for the long-term is a huge boost for the side and he will undoubtedly play a big role in the team going forward.

“Chris has been outstanding for us since he came onboard in 2020. He has listened to his coaches, worked really hard on his game and his skill set – coupled with his field positional options – has become a real bonus for us.

“His loyalty, dedication to our cause and the way he just gets on with his job is a credit to himself and his family – he is an absolute pleasure to be around and work with!”

KALLUM WATKINS SIGNS NEW THREE-YEAR SALFORD RED DEVILS CONTRACT

Salford Red Devils are delighted to announce Club captain, Kallum Watkins has signed a new three-year contract, keeping him in Red and White until 2025.

Watkins is a six-time Super League winner with Leeds Rhinos and his leadership qualities have really come to the fore over the last 12 months. It is clear he commands the respect of the dressing room and his appointment as Club captain earlier this year came as no surprise to anyone.

Despite being a natural centre, Watkins selfless move to the back-row has been hugely beneficial to Paul Rowley’s side. Everyone knows what the 31-year-old brings with ball-in-hand, but his work-rate in defence was equally as vital in Salford’s run to the play-offs in 2022.

Now, with a settled squad and summer additions acquired, Watkins and co will be aiming for silverware in 2023.

Reacting to his new deal, Watkins has said: “I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to extend my time here at Salford Red Devils.

JOE BURGESS SIGNS NEW THREE-YEAR SALFORD RED DEVILS CONTRACT

Salford Red Devils are delighted to announce Joe Burgess has signed a new three-year contract, keeping him at the Club until 2025.

Our number five is the latest in a long line of players who have recently committed their long-term future to the Red Devils.

Since joining the Club from Wigan Warriors in late-2020, Burgess has gone from strength to strength. The 28-year-old has been a mainstay on the wing for Paul Rowley and formed a lethal left-edge partnership with Samoan World Cup finalist, Tim Lafai.

He scored 16 tries in 2022, with his consistency and athleticism vital in Salford’s run to the play-off semi-final. His hat-trick against Castleford Tigers back in May was a particular highlight, with each try showing just how much the Red Devils utilise his electric pace.

Following on from various important contract renewals in the off-season, our number eight is the latest to commit his long-term future to the Red Devils.

Ormondroyd’s personal game has been taken to new levels under the tutelage of Paul Rowley in the past 12 months and he’ll continue to play a vital role across 2023 and beyond.

On top of his incredible tenacity and work-rate in the front line, the prop scored four Betfred Super League tries across 2022 – perhaps typifying the brand of rugby league Rowley and his staff have developed in such a short time.

Off the field, Ormondroyd has become a real leader within the group; someone who multiple young forwards at the Club have name-checked when asked who is always open for advice.

Reacting to his new deal, Ormondroyd said: “I am really happy to be staying at Salford for another couple of years.

“I’ve enjoyed my time here so far; we’ve got a great set of lads. Hopefully we can have another good year and do something special!”

“Since joining the Club in 2020, his improvement – under the guidance of Paul Rowley and his staff – has been a joy to watch. His presence and voice in the dressing room is vital – especially for our young players – so I’m delighted he’ll be able to continue that going forward.

Salford Red Devils are delighted to announce centre, Tim Lafai has signed a new three-year contract, keeping him at the Club until 2025.

In just his debut season, Lafai took the Betfred Super League by storm and established himself as one of the competitions finest centres. The Samoan’s explosive power and technical quality was apparent from day one and his efforts were recognised by his inclusion in the 2022 Dream Team.

His total of 49 offloads in the 2022 campaign was the highest in Super League and his trademark backhand flick to Joe Burgess on the left edge became a potent weapon for Paul Rowley’s side.

Upon extending his contract, Lafai had a short a simple message for the Salford supporters: “Salford, Uncle loves you!”

Head Coach, Paul Rowley also said: “It’s great news that Tim has chosen to extend his stay with us.

“He is a tremendous player and more importantly a great friend and teammate to everybody. He’s been a joy to coach and a very positive influence to our environment.”
