Willows Wall | Lance Todd named as Head Coach

Legendary Salford Red Devils Coach Lance Todd has been named as the man who will lead the β€˜Willows Wall’ Heritage Team bringing an end to the voting.
Lance Todd became Head Coach of Salford Red Devils in 1928 and the Club went from close to folding to becoming a real force under his management. Todd led the Club to their only ever Challenge Cup triumph with their 7-4 victory over Barrow at Wembley.
During the 1930’s – in addition to the Challenge Cup victory – Salford Red Devils also won three League Championships, five Lancashire League Championships and four Lancashire Cups.
He remained with Salford up until 1940 and would tragically die in a motor accident on 14th November 1942. Todd represented New Zealand and Lancashire and enjoyed spells with Wigan and Dewsbury during his playing career.

Risman made 427 appearances for Salford scoring 143 tries, kicking 796 goals and racking up a mammoth 2021 points for the Red Devils.
Steve Blakeley featured for Salford between 1992-99 before re-joining the Club for another three years after a short stint with Warrington Wolves. Blakeley represented England against France and Wales whilst at Salford.
Welsh forward David Young joined Salford in 1991 winning 14 caps for Wales whilst at the Club and captained the Welsh National side in the 1995 Rugby League World Cup.

Prescott was another key component in Salford’s success in the 1970’s helping the Club win Championship titles in both the 1973-74 and 1975-76 seasons. He played in each of Salford’s four consecutive Lancashire Cup final appearances on both of their BBC 2 Television Trophy finals.
He would join Widnes for Β£20,000 and would go on to win the Challenge Cup at Wembley with the Chemics. However, Prescott would re-join Salford in 1984 making 18 appearances before joining Runcorn Highfield where he would finish his player career.
