Salford Red Devils players such as Joey Lussick, Jansin Turgut, Ben Nakubuwai and Daniel Murray visited local community clubs such as Langworthy Reds, Salford Roosters, Folly Lane ARLFC and Cadishead Rhinos giving out FREE season tickets to their youth players for the 2019 season.
Director of Rugby and Operations, Ian Blease, said: β€œIt is absolutely crucial that Salford Red Devils have strong, positive and working relationships with every one of our local community clubs.
β€œThese youngsters are clearly interested in Rugby League and it is up to us to give them the platform to watch top-class Super League and give them something to aspire to.
β€œSome of these kids could be the next generation of Salford Red Devils players or fans and it is important that they have links with this fantastic Club as early as possible and giving them a free 2019 Season Ticket is the perfect way to do that.
β€œWe are looking forward to welcoming a number of youngsters to the The Salford Stadium this season and we’re confident they will enjoy their experience and begin an affinity with the Red Devils!”
Salford Red Devils Foundation Manager, Neil Blackburn, said: β€œIt was great for the Foundation to get out to the local community clubs and give out free Salford Red Devils Season Tickets.
β€œIt is key for the Salford Red Devils Foundation to maintain strong relationships with our community clubs and engage with them on a regular basis. Last week was a perfect example of the great work the Foundation continue to do in the community.
β€œFor us, seeing as many children at the game as possible each week is the aim and we want to promote both the Club and Foundation far and wide.”

Ian Blease hails the travelling Red Devils support

Director of Rugby and Operations Ian Blease has hailed the Red Devils support with over 1200 fans travelling to the John Smith’s Stadium on Friday evening to watch Salford get the season off to a 14-34 winning start against Huddersfield Giants.
Director of Rugby and Operations, Ian Blease, said: β€œI have to say the Salford Red Devils fans were absolutely outstanding on Friday evening.
β€œTo see over 1000 Salford supporters, make the trip up to Huddersfield in those adverse weather conditions was extremely positive and is a real testament to how brilliant they are as a group of fans.
β€œThey made some terrific noise throughout the game and I truly believe their support helped the lads push through to victory. At one point the game was level at 8-8 and the fans really got behind the boys and I have no doubts that this galvanised the boys.
β€œIt is even more promising that a large majority of these fans purchased their ticket in advance from the The Salford Stadium meaning that Salford Red Devils retained 25% of each of their purchases.
β€œIt was great to see so many supporters promoting this on social media in the lead-up to the game as well.
β€œI think this massive turnout for our first away fixture is just an extension of the fantastic support our fans have shown the Club in recent months buying their Season Tickets with many also joining our Squad Builder initiative.
β€œWe, as a Club, can’t stress enough how crucial it is that the fans get behind us this season by purchasing their Season Tickets if they haven’t done so already ahead of this weekend’s massive home opener against newly-promoted London Broncos.
β€œI know that we are actively reaching out to supporters – via phone calls, texts, E-Mails and direct mail – who have lapsed from watching the Red Devils in order to try and get them to come back and watch Salford on a regular basis.
β€œI’m hoping to see a big crowd and good walk-up from those fans who have drifted away over the years at the The Salford Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
β€œAs I’ve said, the fans make a real difference and when they make that noise it definitely lifts the players on the park.
β€œThe team we have built is strong and will play an exciting brand of rugby and if this City gets behind them from the first home game & onwards then who knows what we can achieve this season!”

Ian Watson | “There were large parts I was really pleased with”

Salford Red Devils got their 2019 Betfred Super League season off to the perfect start with a 14-34 victory over Huddersfield Giants at the John Smith’s Stadium.Β
We got the thoughts of Head Coach Ian Watson on the performance, standout performers and the Red Devils fans.

On the victory…

β€œWe looked a lot at ourselves in the week leading up to this game rather than looking at Huddersfield. We wanted to build on what we’ve been working on in pre-season and our pre-season friendlies to make sure that we were good and there were large parts of the game which I’m really pleased with. I thought if we had executed a little better in the first half, we could have put some more points on in that first period.”

On the fluidity in attack…

β€œHaving a spine to work with for the full pre-season has been a big plus for us. They were all very keen to get back over after The Qualifiers last year – Rob Lui, Jackson Hastings and Joey Lussick – everyone wanted to be back for the first day of pre-season. We are really happy with where we are, but we know we’ve got improvement in us as a group as well.”

On Junior Sa’u’s injury…

β€œHe’s done his ribs. We’ll have to see where he is as we go throughout the week but at the moment it looks unlikely, he will play against London Broncos next week.”

On the left edge…

β€œI thought Niall Evalds was really good and then obviously Ken Sio attracts defenders. On the second to last try the defenders didn’t know whether to go for Niall or Ken. The directness of Jackson and the way he’s playing into the line as well stands defenders up and frees our guys up.”

On Lee Mossop…

β€œI don’t like to single individuals out, but I’d like to give a big shout to Lee Mossop who did sixty minutes in the front-row and probably could have gone a bit longer, but we felt the game was won at that point. There aren’t many front-rowers who can do that in the game. Last year was a big year for Lee Mossop in getting as much game time as possible following on from his surgery.”

On the Salford Red Devils fans…

β€œThey were outstanding – we always seem to bring them to Huddersfield. Hopefully on the back of the win this week and the tries we scored they can come back to the The Salford Stadium next week against London Broncos to kick us on. There’s a really good feeling around the Club at the moment with the squad, supporters and community links we’re building so hopefully it’ll all fall into place for a strong crowd next week against London.”
