SUPPORTERS’ TRUST FUND TRIAL FOR CONNOR ASPEY

by | Dec 10, 2020

Salford Red Devils academy graduate Connor Aspey has joined up with the first team squad on a two-month trial.

The January and February trial period, which has been financed by the Supportersโ€™ Trust, will give new Red Devils head coach Richard Marshall the opportunity to assess Aspey.

Director of Rugby and Operations Ian Blease said: โ€œWeโ€™re very thankful to the Supportersโ€™ Trust, for their continued support of our player pathways.

โ€œAfter developing through those structures, Connor experienced the intensity of Super League for the first time last season and has now been given the opportunity to prove himself to our new head coach.

โ€œThe assistance from our Supportersโ€™ Trust to give him that opportunity, shows their commitment to our youth players, and I would encourage all fans to join them as a result.โ€

You can join the Supportersโ€™ Trust HERE for just ยฃ10 and all Junior members are free.

18-year-old Aspey made his Betfred Super League debut against Hull Kingston Rovers in October, after representing the reserves earlier in the season.

Aspey said: โ€œBeing part of the first team environment for so much of last year and making my Super League debut was a great experience.

โ€œIโ€™m really grateful for this opportunity to prove myself and want to thank the Supportersโ€™ Trust for their support of me.

โ€œNow I canโ€™t wait to get stuck into training and show what Iโ€™m capable of.โ€
