Ryan Brierley has been voted June’s Player of the Month.
It’s fourth time lucky for our outstanding fullback, who has fought off competition from teammates, Chris Atkin, Kallum Watkins and Ken Sio.
Throughout the month, Brierley continued to show his brilliance and why some dub him one of the most underrated players across the whole Betfred Super League.
The 31-year-old was crucial in our Magic Weekend victory over Hull KR to kickstart June.
He created two tries from virtually nothing to flip the game on its head and hand Paul Rowley’s side two more competition points.
That was followed by two more try assists in our 10-42 demolition of Castleford Tigers at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
Despite defeat in our next two games, Brierley was still very much in-form and showed his excellent defensive intelligence with one particular try-saver on KR’s, Mikey Lewis.
His presence was dearly missed in out defeat against Wakefield Trinity, after failing a HIA late into the first-half of our contest with Wigan Warriors at the Salford Stadium.
Reacting to winning the award, Brierley said: βItβs nice to finally win player of the month after being nominated so many times, I was beginning to think my own fans didnβt like me!
“In all seriousness, thanks for the continued support, weβve had a few rough weeks and some tough circumstances go against us, but hopefully we can have a real strong finish to the season.β
