March 2022 is the first anniversary of ‘Building the Future’. A project that has linked over eighty local schools and their pupils with an engaging programme of activity through rugby league.

Many schools have also taken their commitment further and signed up to become ‘Official School Partners’ of Salford Red Devils. With the Rugby League World Cup taking place this year, there is no better time to use the coming months to Build the Future of the sport in Greater Manchester.

The benefits for a school when becoming an official partner are, coaching sessions, player visits, discounted tickets to big events, cup competitions, elite level rugby league games and festivals. The partnership also aims to deliver professional development opportunities for school staff to expand their coaching skills and experience. The pre-season friendlies of 2022 have demonstrated what impact our pathways and community work has on providing opportunities for young talent to access their potential. The Building the Future programme is making a lasting and sustainable difference to all of our School Partners, both on the rugby field and in the classroom.”

We take pride in providing students the highest quality delivery from our highly qualified team members. Having a strong presence in the local community and schools ensures that we can continue to serve our community well as we have done for over 15 years.”

The Aims of ‘Building the Future’

Building the Future is now one year into a five-year plan. jointly delivered by Salford Red Devils and the charity, Salford Red Devils Foundation. Schools are an important part of the community, and our hope is that through sport and specifically rugby league, we can create opportunities for young people they would not otherwise engage with.

As the elite rugby league club in the Greater Manchester area, Salford Red Devils aim to spark inspiration that will unlock their potential. Not just with sports but also in their lives and the role they play in our community.
