Following on from the unveiling of our new mascot, Diablo the Devil, at Friday night’s game against St. Helens, Salford Red Devils would like to share some brief details on the design and behind-the-scenes planning.
In-depth research and work has been going on over the last year, with eight different potential designs put together and considered.
Some key aspects of the original pitch included:
- child-friendly mascot
- Must resemble the club badge
- Must be marketable
The final product was created by University of Salford student Sara Janicka, with some blueprints below:
Diablo wears a replica kit over the costume and carries a red trident.
Our new mascot was well received at the unveiling on Friday, with lots of you giving some great feedback on our social channels after the game!
For those who didn’t get to meet Diablo, our new mascot will be with us from the start of the 2022 season.
