MATCH PREVIEW – SALFORD RED DEVILS VS CATALANS DRAGONS (BETFRED SUPER LEAGUE ROUND 10)

MATCH PREVIEW – SALFORD RED DEVILS VS CATALANS DRAGONS (BETFRED SUPER LEAGUE ROUND 10)

by | Apr 23, 2023

Salford Red Devils take on Catalans Dragons at 2:15pm, looking to make it three Betfred Super League victories in a row.

Paul Rowley’s side have recovered from some tough results against Huddersfield Giants and Wigan Warriors by navigating a tricky Easter period with a pair of hard-fought victories over Leigh Leopards and Castleford Tigers.

And as we head into the international break, the Red Devils have a chance to climb as high as 4th in the table, should they win convincingly against the visitors from the South of France.

Steve McNamara’s side have started the season well and posses some of the finest talent in Super League; including two-time Man of Steel, Sam Tomkins and second-top try scorer this season, Tom Johnstone.

In the same fixture last season, the Red Devils romped to a fantastic 32-6 victory in the baking Salford Stadium sunshine, so they’ll be looking for the same sort of display this afternoon.

Here’s everything you need to know before this one…

SQUAD NEWS!

There is one change to the squad who faced Castleford Tigers just over a week ago.

Amir Bourouh returns after shoulder surgery, but Ken Sio misses out with an ankle injury. Our number two is a big miss for Rowley’s side, but there is plenty of quality in the 21-man to fill his void.

After a successful return last round, Oliver Partington is now fully back amongst the fold.

HAGGERTY’S PREVIEW!

Assistant Coach, Kurt Haggerty was on media duties this week and was very quick to praise this Sunday’s opposition when asked about our recent good form against the Dragons.

He began: “What I would say is that they’re a very good team.

“We have a style of play no matter if we play Catalans, Wigan, St Helens or Wakefield – that doesn’t change much.

“We play, we promote the ball, we’re very detailed in how we try and break teams down and it’s no different this week. Against a very good team, we’ll have to be particular in our skill, how we break them down in the preview we’ve put to the players.

“So a lot of detail has gone into this game, but it’s no different just because we’re playing Catalans.”
