Last time out

An incredible performance from Salford Red Devils in France last week saw a 46-0 victory against home team, Catalan Dragons. Proving solid in both their defence and their attack, Salford ended an eight-year unbeaten home run for Catalan.
George Griffin and Jake Bibby both scored two tries each for the Red Devils, along with Joey Lussick, Jackson Hastings, Niall Evalds and Ken Sio who all went over to secure the win at the Stade Gilbert Brutus.

Castleford were not as lucky in their away game against Warrington Wolves, that ended with a 24-10 loss for the Tigers, their first defeat of the 2019 Betfred Super League season.
The Tigers took an early lead with Greg Eden going over in the eighth minute of the game. However, Warrington dominated the game in a way that proved too much for Castlefords defence, giving them a 24-4 advantage at half time. It was Greg Minikin who scored the second try for Castleford in the 59th minute to bring the final score to 24-10.

Form

Salford are showing strong form following the powerful performance at last week’s game against Catalan Dragons, winning four of six games so far in the 2019 Betfred Super League season; going two games without Salford conceding a single try (London Broncos & Catalan Dragons).
With both teams level on eight points each, Salford have the opportunity to go above Castleford in the table following a win at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
Catalan have also shown strength in their past performances, winning four of five games, with a knock back from their last game against Huddersfield Giants that put a stop to their unbeaten run this season.

Head-to-head

It’s been an impressive start for Salford’s Jake Bibby as he ended his debut of the 2019 Betfred Super League Season as Man of the Match after scoring two tries and two assists against Catalan Dragons last week.
Putting in a huge effort as centre for Salford, Bibby has made his mark within the squad, showing immense teamwork with Jackson Hastings, Niall Evalds and Ken Sio to form an unstoppable attack against Catalan.

Bibby will go head-to-head with Castleford’s Centre and Captain Michael Shenton who has shown nothing but strength and loyalty to the Tigers in recent months. Signing a new contract with Castleford until the end of 2021, Shenton is just two tries away from marking is 150th for the club.

Team News

Adam Walker has been named in Ian Watson’s 19-man squad against Castleford to replace Greg Burke, and could make his debut for the Red Devils following his ban.
Jake Bibby looks to be set to make an appearance in this week’s game after his quality performance in Perpignan, along with Daniel Murray and Ed Chamberlain.
