Mark Flanagan pens new deal

by | Jun 5, 2017

The Salford Red Devils are excited to announce that Loose Forward Mark Flanagan has signed a new contract with the club.

Flanagan has been a mainstay in the Salford side over the last two seasons, and his consistent performances and leadership have seen him named Club Vice-Captain in 2017.

The new deal will keep Flanagan at the club until at least 2020 and Head Coach Ian Watson is delighted to have secured his services long term, he said;

β€œWe’re really pleased that Mark has decided to continue his career with Salford. His form would have attracted interest from elsewhere but he’s a really important part of what we do, so it’s a really good re-signing for us.

Flash is one out main leaders, he’s uncompromising in defence, and he’s a really good ball playing Loose Forward, he’s part of the glue that holds this team together.”

Flanagan joined the Red Devils from St Helens, having previously spent time playing in Australia, and CEO Ian Blease feels this experience is invaluable, he said;

β€œMark brings the experience of winning things with him, and with the team challenging at the top of the table, that is exactly what we need in the club as we look to achieve our goals.”

Since putting pen to paper on his new deal, Mark has been looking forward to the next step in his career with the club, he said;

β€œI’m really looking forward to the next three years, as we’ve shown at the start of this season we’ve got a real quality side and we’re really starting to build something, so staying was a no brainer really.”
