Tom Gilmore and Olly Ashall-Bott have joined Salford Red Devils on loan and will both be available for Tuesday’s Betfred Super League match against Warrington Wolves.

Both players made their Super League debuts for Widnes Vikings, with 26-year-old Gilmore doing so in 2012 and 22-year-old Ashall-Bott in 2018.

Head coach Ian Watson said: “Tom & Olly are two players that I’ve watched for a while, and have had previous discussions with about signing for Salford, due to their standout performances at Widnes.

“The current Covid situation has caused disruption for players and clubs, but has also presented a great opportunity for players like Tom and Olly to showcase their skills again at the top level, which they’re more than capable of competing at.

“Their commitment to help us see through this season has been outstanding.”

England Knights representative Gilmore joins from Halifax until the end of the season, to link up with his former teammate Ashall-Bott, who joins from London Broncos until the end of October.

Salford Red Devils director of rugby and operations Ian Blease said: “We’re really pleased to be able to give Tom and Olly this opportunity.

“They have already proved themselves capable of performing at the elite level and their professionalism since joining up with the squad for training has shown they deserve this chance.

“I would like to thank their agent for working with me to make these arrangements possible, as well as the staff at Halifax and London for their cooperation.”

Both players will hope to make their Red Devils debuts at the The Salford Stadium on Tuesday, live on Sky Sports when the Red Devils face Warrington, on the same day Blease and director Paul King oversee the draw for a place on the 2021 Salford Red Devils shirt.
