Salford Red Devils Team Captain Lee Mossop was disappointed with his sides second half performance against Wigan but is still upbeat ahead of a long Betfred Super League season.
Mossop, who has enjoyed two spells with The Warriors, felt Salford challenged in the first half but overall it wasn’t the performance they expected.
Mossop, sponsored by Austin Wilkinson and Son, said: “It’s not what we’ve built at all for the off-season.
“I thought we were a lot better than that we came here really confident that we’d put in a performance.
“To be fair for forty minutes we probably did there were a couple of errors that they scored off but that was it.”
However, Mossop knows it’s just one game in a long season and admits there is only one direction the team can now go in.
Mossop added: “To be fair we can only go up.
“There were a lot of positives we felt as a middle unit we stood up but it’s a team game so we’ve got to be solid together we’ll work hard through the week and see where we go.
“We’re going to have to be a lot better [against Wakefield] than we were against Wigan but all we can do is work hard in training and fix the negatives that we found in that game.”
