It gives us great pleasure to announce Brodie Croft has been named August’s Betfred Super League Player of the Month.
Our number six has enjoyed a sensational debut season in Red and White and was recently shortlisted for the Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel award. Croft’s energy in the halves has been a driving force behind the club’s play-off push and notching 32 try contributions across the campaign is an impressive feat.
Upon receiving yet another personal accolade, Croft was very quick to praise the rest of the team, saying: “I’m very humbled to receive this award. We’ve been playing some really good footy as a team and I’m loving playing each week with this great group of guys!”
Looking specifically at August, the Aussie helped the Red Devils bounce back from defeat at Headingley with a 33-16 thrashing of Huddersfield Giants at the The Salford Stadium. There were points across that 80 minutes where Salford were under pressure, but some grit and determination in defence earned a crucial two points.
The team then flew out to Perpignan and provided an attacking masterclass against Catalans Dragons. A 14-46 victory solidified their place in the top six, but Croft’s dazzling display was just another highlight in a truly outstanding season.
Salford returned to the AJ Bell with a 28-18 win over Hull FC and booked their play-off place a week later with a 10-50 demolition of Castleford Tigers at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
Croft’s efforts have been recognised by the panellists and he’s pipped all the other nominees to be named August’s Player of the Month.
The half-back will unfortunately not be available for Saturday’s semi-final after failing his HIA in the eliminator play-off, but the players will be certainly be fired up and want to give Croft the Grand Final he deserves after such a high-quality year.
