Both the Army and the Navy Rugby League teams will be hoping to bring the big guns out on Saturday during the Armed Forces Challenge match, which takes place before the Red Devils Super League clash with the London Broncos.
The game, which kicks off at 1245 will be the latest instalment in a fierce rivalry between the two sides, with the Armed Forces bragging rights at stake, and entry to this game comes included in the ticket for the Broncos game.
These games have developed a reputation for being fast paced, high scoring affairs played at an extremely high standard, so much so that Weapons Technician Jordan Andrade was given a full time contract at the Salford Red Devils after putting in an eye catching performance in last years fixture.
Looking back on last year, Andrade remembers what it felt like to walk out at the The Salford Stadium, in such a big game, he said;
βThe Armed Forces game last year was a fantastic experience. As an amateur it brilliant to be able to play in a high profile fixture like that in a place like the AJ Bell, it was an amazing feeling when Salford offered me a contract off the back of my performance.β
With the stakes high for both teams, Andrade, who still operates as a Weapons Technician for the RAF recalls what it meant to play in the inter-services fixtures;
βFor all the servicemen playing Rugby League, these games mean a great deal. Itβs a chance to test yourself against the other forces and be able to represent your own force with pride, and Iβm sure weβll see plenty of passion from the lads on Saturdayβ
Tickets for the double header are just Β£5 for members of the Armed Forces, and Β£10 in advance for the general public, with under 17βs free.
Tickets can be ordered online at reddevilsrugby.co.uk/tickets or by calling 0161 786 1570.
